Teaching: New Binder!

I like to start every year with a new, organized binder.  I was looking online for some binder organizers that I wouldn't have to create myself and stumbled on this gem! Click on the link to be taken to TpT!

This binder packet is completely editable, which I love! It also has a ton of pages!
Here are some of the things I changed:

Teaching: New School Year Project!

I decided last school year that I wanted to revamp my writing in the classroom.  I want to create a new bulletin board area as well as new writing resources for my kids.  This past year we used a writing folder, but with all their resource sheets, it got to be really messy. Here is my inspiration for this new school year:

Easy Thank You Gift

I have used this is a thank you gift several times, it is very easy!  Shopko often has discounted plastic cups for a few bucks that can be used for this gift.  Ideas for the Pampering In A Cup, are lotion, nailpolish, chapstick, drink packets with, of course, a little chocolate.  Hope you enjoy this idea!

Command Center

I had lots of inspirational ideas from Pinterest while planning my command center.

I didn't have a large space to create what I wanted so I bought what I thought would fit, then trace each object on wrapping paper.  I used painters tape to tape the wrapping paper to the wall, this let me move everything around until I was able to find the layout I preferred.

Before

After

I am very happy with the outcome!  It is a nice spot for my husband and I to leave notes to each other and reminders on the calendar.

Teaching: Interactive Notebooks

This year was the first time I have used interactive notebooks.  Honestly, my team started it halfway through the year so I wasn't able to fully utilize this great resource.  Interactive notebooks are great tools to teach and/or review concepts and ideas.  For example: teach a lesson on nouns and use the interactive notebook as an introduction to the topic or as an additional activity.

One thing I did learn quickly with 2nd graders is that it is time consuming.  They have to cut, glue, write and color.  Having limited time to do activities, I had them cut and glue during snack time and then we would do the activity together.  There are interactive notebooks for various subjects and find it a great resource for students to look back to.

We were only able to use the language arts notebook and had the students keep it in their Daily 5 buckets as another reading option. I highly recommend checking this idea out, it is worth the price! I also recommend making your own copy so you are able to show students and have it as a reference for the future.

Can You Dig It?

Welcome to Danielle's Daily Digs! I am a 'new' teacher looking forward to what's coming next and fulfilling my dream. On this blog I plan to share lots of classroom ideas that I dig, including ideas that are created by me! Even though teaching does consume a large portion of my life, I leave plenty of room for my two babies, fur-babies that is.
These two boys are my world and they are spoiled rotten! Which probably means you will see lots of doggy digs on here as well! The last title on my blogging resume is wife. I am married to a great guy, my high school sweetheart, who has supported my teaching dream from day one, even though it has been a longer journey than we thought. I will forever be grateful for his support!
Please visit my blog daily to see what fun things I dig (baby, dog, funny, teaching, deals, etc)! I also encourage you to leave comments or email me!
